Frequently asked questions about house-sharing at Relaxscape Co-living
Answers to your main questions
-
It’s a house-share, for women starting over, or in a time of transition. Like I was when I first moved here.
-
Because in my experience as a therapist, women who are going through a period of transition benefit from the support of other women who can understand what they are going through. Often it is their relationship with a male partner or family member which has led them to realise they need this time to restore themselves and understand themselves better.
-
No, not really, although of course people may need to work while they are here. In fact we’re encouraging people to disconnect more, so that they can slow down and listen to their inner voice and reconnect with themselves.
-
It’s minimum one month and maximum three.

There’s a good Vodafone mobile hotspot connection, suitable for online working, shared between all the housemates. If you want to make sure to have a faster connection or to work in a particular location, then we can arrange an individual hotspot device for you (at your cost).

Yes, as well as your private room, there is a yoga/meditationi studio (which can also be used for working if not being used by another house-mate) and another little Creative Cabin & Library. You can also find lots of quiet spaces under the olive trees in the land.
-
Yes, each housemate has a private room with an ensuite shower, toilet and basin. Some rooms have a bath as well. Some rooms have double beds, some have single beds. You can check out all the room configurations here

Sorry, not in this particular house. There are already three cats and two sheep! But we are planning other spaces in the future which will be pet- and child-friendly.

No, meals are not included. This is a house-share arrangement where you are responsible for your own day-to-day living plans. You may like to share cooking and shopping with your fellow housemates, but this would be up to each of you to decide and organise
-
Not necessarily, although bearing in mind that we are in a small village, and so there is more limited public transport available than in a city. There are:
- taxis
- shared “taxi-buses” with fixed times and stops
- Morning, lunchtime and evening buses to Ferreira do Zêzere and Tomar (not during school holidays though)
- Occasional Uber in Tomar
- Train connections from Tomar
- FlixBus conections from Ferreira do Zêzere and Tomar to other Portuguese cities (and beyond)House mates who do come with a car are usually happy to share lifts or errands.
We are also working on providing a small shared car in the future for housemates to use for local trips,

Lisbon Airport is the closest and easiest to travel to Relaxscape using public transport. You can take a train to Tomar and then a taxi or Uber (or bus if you time it right!), or you can catch a Rede Expressos bus from Lisbon to Ferreira do Zêzere which is even closer.

Women who are looking for some quiet time away from their usual day-to-day pressures. Women starting over. Women going through a transitional phase in their life. Nature lovers. People who enjoy building communities. People who enjoy slow living and value sustainability.

Yes, your monthly rent includes bills (on a fair usage policy), and bearing in mind that we are a conscious space, so we live with as much consideration for the environment and sustainability as possible.
-
Yes, the common areas are cleaned once a week, included in your monthly rental, but you are responsible for your own laundry and room cleaning and for keeping the shared spaces clean and tidy after use out of respect for your fellow house-mates.
-
You are welcome to help out with the seasonal work on the land while you are here, picking fruit, preserving it, creating a veg patch, gardening and even creating your own garden space if you like. There are plenty of cultural activities in the nearby towns, and markets. We welcome creative contributions, and have provided some arts & crafts materials too for housemates who like to get creative
